History
In 1954 John Dardi, Sr. bought the distributorship for Dan Dee Potato Chips in the Logan area, & named it Dardi Distributing Company. In 1955, he also started selling Snyder of Berlin Potato Chips. They were located in Stollings, West Virginia until 1963 when he built the building at 511 Palmer Avenue in North Mitchell Heights where they are currently located. As of 2024 Dardi Distributing distributes Utz/Snyder of Berlin Snacks, Mister Bee Potato Chips, Snyder of Hanover-Tom’s Snacks. Dardi Distributing has approximately 400 vending machines, & delivers snacks to over 1,000 accounts.

2025
In July of 1992, John Dardi, Jr. hired 14-year-old Brian Waugh to work for his family business, Dardi Distributing Company, a Snyder of Berlin Potato Chip distributor based in Logan, West Virginia. The company serviced the coal industry counties of Logan, Mingo, Wyoming, McDowell, Martin, Johnson, Floyd, Magoffin, and Pike.
At that time, Brian learned the ropes of selling from whom he has always considered his mentor, John Dardi. While attending high school, and later college in Logan at SWVTC and Marshall University, his route took him to places in Southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky where his PaPaw (Cotton), Dad (Frank), and Uncle (Donnie) had sold milk and ice cream from 1945–1987.
Over the years, Dardi Distributing expanded into new areas, including Princeton, Hazard, Prestonsburg (now Martin, Kentucky), as well as the Lincoln and Boone County areas. The company also became an Utz Quality Snacks distributor after Utz purchased Snyder of Berlin.
While Dardi continued to grow, Brian embarked on a career in the snack and convenience store industry. He worked for:
• Snyder of Berlin Potato Chips
• Painter Distributing
• Frito-Lay
• Little General Stores
• Par Mar Stores
Brian returned to Logan in November of 2024 to help John with the business. Thirty-three years after he first started at Dardi, he purchased Dardi Distributing Company on July 1st, 2025.
Dardi Distributing will go down in history as a pillar in the community, helping churches, community events, and sports teams in the areas it served. John Sr., Wanda, John Jr., and Bonnie gave their all over the years to build the family business into what it became.
Dardi Distributing Company is now known as Waugh Vittles.
The company has 25 employees, including long-time team members such as Dennis Sesco (over 35 years) and Randy Richmond (25 years).
In addition to being an Utz/Snyder of Berlin distributor in Southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky, Waugh Vittles has recently become a distributor for:
• Rogers & Mazza’s Pepperoni Rolls (Southern West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, Southeast Ohio, and Southwestern Virginia)
• Ale 8 Citrus Ginger Ale (all of West Virginia and Southwestern Virginia)
